I keep seeing runners, CrossFit people, and even soccer players adding yin yoga to their training. I always thought yoga for athletes was more like power yoga or mobility flows, but yin looks… slow, long holds, almost like doing nothing 😅. I train 4–5 days a week (mostly weights + some cardio) and I’m often tight in hips/hamstrings and my sleep gets kind of trash when I’m stressed.
So why do athletes practice yin yoga specifically? Is it mainly for flexibility, recovery, or something mental like focus? And how often would someone realistically do yin without it messing up strength training? Curious to hear real experiences.
