Hi everyone 🌿 I’ve been doing beginner hatha yoga classes for a few months and I love how grounded I feel after, but I realized I don’t actually know what the philosophy behind hatha yoga is.
In class we do poses, breathing, and a short relaxation at the end, and the teacher sometimes mentions “union” or “balancing energies,” but it goes by fast. I’m not looking for anything super religious—more like: what’s the actual idea of hatha yoga, what is it trying to teach or train, and how is it different from just stretching?
Also if there are simple principles I can keep in mind during practice (like a mindset or intention), I’d appreciate it. Thanks 💜
