I keep seeing “deep stretch yoga” on YouTube and class schedules, but I’m not sure what it actually means. Is it basically yin yoga, or just a slower flow with longer holds?
Context: I sit at a desk all day and my hips/hamstrings feel tight, plus I’ve been a bit stressed lately and I’m trying to add something gentle in the evening. I’m not super flexible and I don’t want to overdo it or end up sore in a bad way.
So what is deep stretch yoga, what should I expect in a typical class (tempo, breathing, intensity), and is it suitable for beginners? Any tips on how to practice it safely would be appreciated.
