Hi everyone 💜 I keep seeing the term “adaptive yoga” in studio schedules and on YouTube, but I’m not totally sure what it means. Is it the same as chair yoga or restorative yoga, or is it something different?
For context: I’m not injured, but I do have tight hips/hamstrings and sometimes my wrists get cranky in downward dog. I also get a bit anxious in fast classes where I feel like I’m “behind.” I’m looking for something that still feels like real yoga (breathing, flow, calm mind-body connection), but with options so I don’t feel embarrassed.
If you’ve tried adaptive yoga, what does a typical class look like? What props do they use, and who is it meant for? Any tips on how to choose a good teacher/class would be appreciated.
