Hi everyone, I’m new here. I started doing yoga at home (mostly YouTube flows) because I’m stressed and I feel like I’m on autopilot all day. I can work, scroll, eat, even talk to people and afterwards I’m like… did I actually feel anything?
When I do a short practice, sometimes I notice my breathing or tension in my shoulders and it feels like “oh wow, I’m in my body again.” But other times I’m just thinking about my to-do list while I’m in downward dog.
So my question is: can yoga help with self awareness in a real way, like noticing emotions/thought patterns and not just stretching? If yes, what kind of practice makes that easier (poses, breathwork, meditation, journaling after)? I’m not looking for anything extreme, just a grounded way to feel more present.
